    Avatar Innovations Demo Day

Congratulations to all participants at Avatar Innovations Demo Day!

CRIN took in the day of impressive and inspiring presentations on November 20 from 12 teams that have worked for months on their technologies. CRIN proudly provided scholarships to multiple participants in the Avatar Program.

CRIN-supported participant Milind Bhat, member of Grid Watt X, said working with four people from different backgrounds allowed him to look at the problem his team was solving from new perspectives.

“I’ve been a product manager mostly in the tech space, and this was in a totally different domain with different eyes, and we had a lot of discussions to develop something that was pretty amazing,” he said. “I’m really excited about it.”

His team’s technology, GWX, is an AI-based platform that ingests grid data, constraints, expert knowledge, and standard solutions to automate grid planning within utilities, enabling them to be more efficient, execute projects faster, and meet increasing regulatory scrutiny.

Daniel Adebesin, another CRIN scholarship recipient, praised his team for coming together from various backgrounds to collaborate.

“For us to be together from day one to where we are today, I’m really proud of that,” he said. “It made me value every one of them.”

Adebesin’s team, Carbonaught Technologies, developed a business solution involving modular, skid-mounted carbon dioxide capture systems for LNG supporting mid-size industrial emitters, capable of capturing 10,000 to 150,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

A team featuring another CRIN-supported participant, Kaiden Powell, took home an award at the end of Demo Day for the best pitch of the day. RePhase’s technology provides an economic waste-to-value service that converts tank bottom sludge into usable wax.

Avatar CEO and co-founder Kevin Krausert told all the teams presenting at Demo Day that they are the builders of the next chapter of global energy.

“What you’ve built truly matters,” he said. “You have shown creativity, discipline, and courage, and you’ve risen to every occasion.”

Following Demo Day, the next stage of the Avatar Program, for any teams selected, is Avatar Ventures, which provides ecosystem access, office space, advisory and operations services, capital, and governance and start-up resources.

Best of luck to all participants!
