Panelists during the second discussion

Panel 3
Methane Emission Leadership Alliance, CRIN, and The ETC Foundation hosted an insightful afternoon of discussions and presentations on November 27 at the Energy Transition Centre as part of Canada Climate Week Xchange.
Over three panels, participants showcased how technology, collaboration, and innovation are driving meaningful reductions in methane emissions across Canada’s energy sector.
The first portion of the afternoon featured presentations and a panel discussion with Steve Froehler, President of LCO Technologies; Doug Bezpalko, Technical Sales Manager for Calscan; Joe Pfaff, Sales Manager for TCI; and Brian Van Vliet from Spartan Controls, on technology-based approaches to emissions reduction.
Following overviews of NGIF innovation initiatives, the NGIF Emissions Test Centre Lab, and ETC Field Program, a panel discussion featuring NGIF’s Akhil Abat, University of Calgary professor Ian Gates, and Scott Volk of Tourmaline and CRIN was moderated by Wayne Hillier, Chief Technology Officer at Modern West Advisory.
Panelists delved into topics including the highlights and challenges of the Emissions Testing Centre program, the value of collaboration in innovation, talent creation, the progress the innovation community has made on methane emissions reduction, and seeing projects go from the lab to the field.
The third panel of the afternoon focused on how data plays an important role in recognizing and reducing methane emissions.
Panelists Alberto Alva from Process Ecology and Phillip Pinto from Envirosoft discussed how data can play a role and highlighted their successes in reducing emissions with clients.
