Polarization of Politics & Policy - The Energy Policy Landscape for Cleaner Fuels

    CRIN

Join CRIN on January 31, Wednesday at 9:00-10:30am MST for a fireside chat with Dave Schick, Cleaner Fuels Association, Monica Gattinger, University of Ottawa School of Political Studies, and Bill Whitelaw, geoLOGIC Systems, on energy policies and their potential impact on Canadian industry.

    Topics of discussion will include:
    - Canada’s fall economic statement, their intersections and impacts on industry, politics and consumers
    - the incentives and regulations affecting Canadian low carbon fuel production, and
    - the impact on Canadian industry of these policies, including federal and provincial government intervention, markets and international perspectives

We will explore how current and emerging policies are impacting support for investment in the necessary projects, technology, and infrastructure to decarbonize Canada’s fuel production. We will also discuss how politics and policies can diverge and what this may communicate about Canadian priorities; Canada's capacity to manage energy supply including renewables, possible impacts at a provincial level, policy disparities.

David Schick is VP Western Canada, Innovation and Regulatory Affairs at the Canadian Fuels Association, and the Cleaner Fuels Theme Lead at the Clean Resource Innovation Network.
Professor Monica Gattinger, Founding Chair, Positive Energy, University of Ottawa.
Bill Whitelaw is Managing Director of Sustainability and Strategy at geoLOGIC systems.
